Gallery Forbes Project

Our new creative space coming soon.

The Forbes Arts Society purchased the former Forbes and District Ambulance Station at 110 Lachlan Street, Forbes in December 2019. The site will be developed into a vibrant, civic hub. A space that encourages locals and visitors to create, share and experience art and culture as well as meet, gather and connect with one another.

Orange-based firm, Source Architects were engaged in 2020 to develop the final design for the Centre in consultation with key project partners and the wider community. The design is an adaptive reuse of this prominent local building – sensitive to the site’s Local Heritage significance status, whilst incorporating a beautiful yet functional contemporary extension.

The Forbes Cultural Centre will provide the community with a sophisticated architecturally designed building complex with multiple art galleries, workshop area, meeting rooms, event spaces, and café

To date this project has been partially funded by the NSW Government under the following programs

   - Creative Capital grant, Create NSW - HVAC and HC System

   - Boosting the Lachlan Valley Economy Art Project, Restart NSW Infrastructure NSW

   - Forbes Cultural Centre Project, stage two, Regional Tourism Activation Fund

This project would not be possible with out the ongoing partnerships with Forbes Shire Council, Evolution Mining and the Forbes Arts Society.

The Centre is planned for completion in 2027.

Take a virtual tour through 110 Lachlan Street. Thank you to Michael Robinson and Co. for capturing the 3D images of the building prior to construction commencing.
